“HOME” is a work in process which haven’t really got a title yet. And anyway; it will be written in Norwegian, so “HOME”, as a title, is definitely out of the question. But it can function well as a preliminary name. Because ”HOME” is a writing project dedicated to the study of what it can mean to:
- feel at home
- be at home
- make a home
- leave home
- find home
And to understand more about home I will ask questions like
- Where is home?
- What is home?
I will also look into the darker sides of ”HOME”, negative aspects, look into the shadows, like:
- The unhomely (Das Unheimliche – literally, “un-home-ly”, but idiomatically, “scary”, “creepy”) is a Freudian concept of an instance where something can be familiar, yet foreign at the same time, resulting in a feeling of it being uncomfortably strange or uncomfortably familiar.
My idea is really very simple, I’m interested in finding out what it means to feel at home in ones own life – no more, no less. (Due to input load I recon my writings will be, if ever, published posthumous) (a true joke).
At the moment my theoretical thoughts on the subject wanders in a rather pragmatic direction, with a hint of secular humanism. But to be honest, I’m not really that interested in philosophy and theory any more. What I want to do is to study the way we live and make ourselves at home – and I will study this with heavy assistance from art & literature. It is obvious, isn’t it – nothing in this world can tell us more about the true meaning of life than pure fiction – .

Tantalising….
To my regret I will not be able to read your Norwegian writing. I had a wonderful Elkhound once – Inge – but alas, Norwegian was not one of the things she taught me.
Best Wishes, Dia.
